Twin Pines is a standout example of what can be achieved through collaboration, craftsmanship, and a clear vision. This coastal renovation was a joint effort between the clients, Robinson Architects, and AMbuild, who brought the design to life with precision and care.
The project involved the transformation of an existing 1980s two-storey brick veneer home, perfectly positioned on a corner block with expansive east and south-eastern ocean views. By retaining the original structure and footprint, AMbuild was able to preserve these views and maintain the generous setbacks—features that would be difficult to replicate under today’s planning regulations.
Working closely with the architect, AMbuild executed a clever reconfiguration of the home to enhance its relationship with the site—maximising natural light, harnessing cooling coastal breezes, and maintaining a strong connection to the outdoors. Sustainability was a guiding principle throughout, with a focus on recycling materials and preserving as much of the original build as possible.
The result is a finely detailed home with a warm, modern coastal feel. AMbuild’s quality workmanship is evident in every finish: polished concrete floors (existing slabs on both levels), light Blackbutt timber flooring, and a custom open staircase finished in matte Whittle wax. Bathrooms are fully tiled and feature bespoke Blackbutt vanities, while the exterior showcases AMbuild’s attention to detail with beautifully crafted Spotted Gum decks, VJ-lined ceilings, and operable privacy screens that combine function with refined aesthetics.Twin Pines is a testament to AMbuild’s commitment to quality construction, thoughtful detailing, and seamless collaboration.
