Constructed by AMbuild, this thoughtfully designed residence demonstrates the team’s ability to deliver high-performance, environmentally conscious homes with precision and care.

‍Built for Sustainability and Performance
From the outset, Andy’s House was designed and built with sustainability as a core principle. A striking rammed earth spine forms the thermal heart of the home, regulating indoor temperatures year-round. AMbuild executed this complex feature with technical accuracy, ensuring its structural integrity and long-term performance. Floor-to-ceiling operable louvres were integrated to promote natural cross-ventilation, reducing reliance on mechanical cooling. Additional sustainable systems include rainwater harvesting and on-site wastewater treatment, all constructed and commissioned by the AMbuild team to reduce the home’s environmental impact and running costs.

‍Craftsmanship in Every Material
AMbuild brought a refined attention to detail to the home’s material palette. Internally, warm spotted gum timber flooring, rammed earth walls, and plywood ceilings were installed with precision, delivering a natural and cohesive finish throughout. Externally, the home is clad in galvanised corrugated iron—chosen for its durability, low maintenance, and reference to traditional rural Australian structures. The result is a home that is both resilient and visually grounded in its environment.

Though modest in footprint at 285 square metres, Andy’s House feels open and generous thanks to clever spatial planning and high raked ceilings. AMbuild worked closely with the architect and client to ensure the home’s layout captures panoramic views from every angle, with living spaces oriented towards Mt Coolum and the distant Pacific Ocean. The unconventional open-plan layout supports a relaxed lifestyle while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoors.
